La Perouse Lorne

La Perouse is located in the heart of Lorne, a short stroll to an eclectic range of shops, Qdos gallery, local cafes and restaurants. Enjoy panoramic ocean views of Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road from your suite. There are five suites to choose from: Three in the main house, a free-standing cottage facing the ocean and a two bedroom ocean view apartment.

Why not walk to the many waterfalls and experience nature right on your doorstep or simply curl up with a book on the beach or in front of your own gas fire.

Sue and Laurel bought the house in Lorne in late 2007. They totally refurbished La Perouse to be an enchanting, elegant, luxury bed and breakfast. Combined, they have a background in nursing, midwifery, academia and publishing. Laurel worked predominantly in intensive care and Sue in midwifery. In more recent years, they taught at Deakin University and later managed a small publishing house in Melbourne.

Having holidayed in Lorne since childhood, the transition from the hospital to hospitality was quite natural. Sue is now the night supervisor at Lorne Community Hospital. Together they own and run La Perouse. Although they love to travel to France, they highly recommend the seachange to Lorne. La Perouse will delight those who are reminded of France, and otherwise charm any romantic soul with its combination of period details, casual elegance and modern luxuries.

Features accommodation for eight people  (maximum two per room) – three rooms in the main house plus a separate cottage.

La Perouse 4 all rooms have private ensuites, Nobo heating, ceiling fans, private balcony, ocean views, imported linen and electric blankets.

La Perouse 4 Cottage has a double bath, La Perouse 3 has a corner bath.

Breakfast is served Parisian style in the café or on the terrace with delicious Brookfarm muesli, organic fruit, yoghurt, La Madre pastries, gravity coffee and a range of T2 teas.

Movenpick ice-creams, DVD/TV, tea and coffee making facilities, free WiFi, mini-bar, bathrobes, imported French bath products and beach towels available.

We love Lorne because Laurel loves living by the ocean. Lorne is special. It is a small, friendly and unpretentious community. Everyone gets on despite having diverse backgrounds and interests. For Sue it’s about the lack of traffic, community and our abundance of nature – the trees, the bush and the native birds.
