Qdos Arts
-
Qdos Arts is the epicentre of the vibrant arts scene in Lorne – and perhaps the Great Ocean Road. What began as a gallery, cafe and sculpture garden to celebrate the visual, performing and gourmet arts has grown into a complete retreat with five Japanese-inspired Treehouses for couples.
Owner Graeme Wilke is a ceramicist whose admiration for the Japanese aesthetic led him to design these five retreats dotted on the bushland rise behind his studio and gallery.
Zen-influenced interiors feature tatami mats, shoji screens and polished timbers, together with a light-filled ensuite. Each Treehouse features Graeme’s ceramics, a selection of art books and a deck to take in the sun. The effect is one of harmony through the interplay of natural light on subtle textured surfaces. Light is also a theme in the gallery with lofty rooflines and glass to draw in the bushland views.
Various artists are represented and the visual feast is matched by the creative gourmet offerings of the cafe.
Features: Art gallery, inspiring exhibitions, theatrical and musical performances, cafe, eco-friendly accommodation in tranquil treehouse, sculpture garden, and functions for 80 people (sit down) or 120 (cocktail style).
Open daily (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays outside holiday periods) 9:00-5:30pm.
A place to contemplate my love of freedom, to create dream and nurture my spirit, that’s Lorne for me.
